Everything you need to know about PDO thread lift at DRV Clinic.
A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure involving absorbable threads placed beneath the skin. Depending on the type of thread and technique, treatment may be intended to reposition selected soft tissues, provide mechanical support or stimulate tissue response. PDO stands for polydioxanone, a biodegradable material used in medical sutures. A thread lift should not be considered equivalent to a surgical facelift.
Look for an appropriately qualified practitioner with specific experience in thread treatments, detailed facial anatomy knowledge and the ability to recognise and manage complications. Ask how frequently the practitioner performs thread treatments, which types they use, what outcomes are realistically achievable and what happens if a complication occurs.
PDO threads can produce improvement in appropriately selected patients, but results depend heavily on anatomy, degree of tissue laxity, thread type, technique and expectations. Threads can provide subtle repositioning or support in suitable cases but cannot reproduce the degree of tissue repositioning achievable with surgery.
PDO threads themselves gradually biodegrade. The visible aesthetic effect does not necessarily disappear at exactly the same time because tissue response and collagen remodelling may contribute. Longevity varies according to thread type, technique, treatment area, tissue characteristics and individual factors.
Thread procedures are generally performed using local anaesthesia or another appropriate pain-management strategy. Patients may still experience pressure, pulling or discomfort during treatment. Tenderness and tightness can also occur during recovery.
