Facial Contouring & Full-Face Balancing

Non-surgical facial contouring is an approach to changing facial proportions, definition or balance without surgery. Depending on anatomy, treatment may involve dermal fillers, botulinum toxin, collagen-stimulating treatments, energy-based devices or combinations. The objective should not simply be to add volume; good facial contouring identifies which anatomical structures are responsible for the concern.

Full-face balancing evaluates how individual facial features relate to one another rather than treating each feature independently. The nose, lips, chin, cheeks, jawline and other structures contribute to overall facial proportions. Sometimes a patient requests treatment to one area when another feature is actually responsible for perceived imbalance.

Ageing involves changes in bone structure, fat compartments, skin quality, ligaments and soft tissue. Strategically placed filler can restore selected areas of volume or structural support. However, ageing should not automatically be treated by adding large quantities of filler.

Jawline, Chin & Facial Asymmetry

Yes, in appropriately selected patients. Dermal filler can potentially improve jawline definition, contour irregularities or structural deficiency. However, the jawline is influenced by the mandible, chin, masseter muscles, submental fat and skin laxity. Someone with significant loose skin may not achieve an ideal result from filler alone.
