Can Radiesse or HArmonyCa Cause Complications?

Yes. Both treatments involve calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). Radiesse is CaHA-based, while HArmonyCa combines CaHA with HA. Because CaHA behaves differently from conventional HA filler, complications cannot always be managed in the same way.

Potential Concerns

Swelling, bruising, tenderness, lumps, palpable product, nodules, contour irregularity, overcorrection, inflammatory reactions, infection, migration, granulomatous reactions, vascular occlusion, skin injury and very rarely visual complications after intravascular facial injection.

Can Radiesse Be Dissolved?

No. Hyaluronidase does not dissolve CaHA.

Can HArmonyCa Be Dissolved?

Not completely in the same way as an HA-only filler. Hyaluronidase can act on the HA component but does not dissolve CaHA.

Can Radiesse or HArmonyCa Cause Nodules?

Yes. A lump may represent product accumulation, swelling, haematoma, fibrosis, a non-inflammatory nodule, inflammatory reaction, infection or granulomatous response. Correct classification matters.

Can CaHA Become Infected?

Yes. Warning signs include increasing pain, redness, heat, swelling, tenderness, discharge, fever or systemic illness.

Can CaHA Cause Vascular Occlusion?

Yes. Like other fillers, CaHA can cause vascular compromise if inadvertently injected into a vessel or if blood flow is otherwise compromised. This is rare but potentially serious.

Visual Changes Are an Emergency

After any facial filler, sudden blurred vision, partial or complete vision loss, double vision, significant eye pain, visual-field disturbance, eye-movement changes associated with visual symptoms or neurological symptoms require immediate emergency medical assessment.

Can Hyaluronidase Treat a Radiesse Vascular Occlusion?

Hyaluronidase does not dissolve CaHA, which makes CaHA vascular complications different from HA-filler vascular occlusion. Management requires an appropriate emergency protocol and experienced clinical care.

Can Ultrasound Help?

Potentially. Ultrasound may help understand product location, depth, nodule characteristics, relationship to surrounding structures and other previously injected materials.

Can Another Clinic Correct Radiesse or HArmonyCa?

Potentially, but no responsible practitioner should promise an instant correction without examination. Non-HA filler complications can be more complex because the product cannot simply be dissolved.
